#11 Just In Time For Summer…

Yes, it’s another summer playlist. But I’ve put a different spin on it. This list is split into older and newer songs. So, without further delay, here is the Life Observations Summer Playlist!

  1. Mary Jane’s Last Dance by Tom Petty: Some think it’s about weed, others think it’s about fleeting love; but whatever it’s about it’s a great song.
  2. Let’s Go Crazy by Prince: What’s summer without a Prince song?
  3. Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince: A definite ode to the hottest months when “it’s time to sit back and unwind.”
  4. Little Red Corvette by Prince: Yep, it’s another Prince song. On the surface, it’s about a car, but look closer; it’s actually about a woman who loves ’em and leaves ’em. Perfect use of analogy.
  5. Cruel Summer by Ace of Base: It’s an ode to being lonely during the summer, but hey, they can’t all be happy! Plus, it’s an awesome cover of the Bananarama song.
  6. California Gurls by Katy Perry: It’s the newest on this half of the list, but I dare you not to sing along.
  7. School’s Out by Alice Cooper: The ultimate anthem for summer break.
  8. Thong Song by Sisqo: Don’t think I have to explain this one!
  9. Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz: A song about wishing to get away. Isn’t that what we all wish we could do during summer?
  10. All I Wanna Do by Sheryl Crow: “All I wanna do is have some fun/I’ve got a feeling I’m not the only one”

  1. The Show Goes On by Lupe Fiasco: One sample from Modest Mouse + one song about sticking out the rough patches = one hot summer song.
  2. Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae: A song about partying to forget a horrible week. Actually, this is appropriate for anytime of the year.
  3. On the Floor by Jennifer Lopez: I know this was released earlier in the year; but it just sounds summery.
  4. Give Me Everything by Pitbull f/ Ne-Yo: Gets stuck in your head very easily!
  5. Edge of Glory by Lady Gaga: Another amazing summer song by Lady Gaga.
  6. Don’t Wanna Go Home by Jason Derulo: The Perfect summer club song.
  7. Hypnotico by Jennifer Lopez: Yes there’s another JLo song but it’s extremely catchy!
  8. Sunset In July by 311: “Watching you dancing and having the time of your life” Now isn’t that what summer’s about?
  9. I Wanna Go by Britney Spears: It’s Britney doing what she does best.
  10. Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) by Katy Perry: A musical description of an epic summer party.
